Gormandale & District Primary School is a community minded school, set in the picturesque farm setting of Gormandale, in between the larger towns of Traralgon and Yarram. The school is an amalgamation of 5 small schools that were previously operating in the greater district, and merged into one site in 1995. The school has a rich history, stemming from all 5 schools, that creates a warm and welcoming learning environment, with many generations of families having attended the school.
Our Core Values of Be a Learner, Be Respectful, and Be Safe, combine with our Eagle mascot to promote School Wide Positive Behaviour Scheme in all classes and learning spaces. We promote the development of Growth Mindset, with a focus on embracing challenge, modelling the benefits of making mistakes, developing life-long learning skills, working in teams, and learning together.
We currently operate a 3 class structure, with a Prep/1, a 2/3, and a 4/5/6 class. All children’s learning needs are catered to as individuals, with a focus on growing personally, and working towards our goals. In addition, we have a dedicated art room, performing arts room, library, a large oval, tennis courts and an extensive playground area. We offer a range of specialist subjects including music, art, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), physical education, library, MARC Library Van, swimming, and a cooking program, all within the included curriculum. We are well resourced with up to date technology that includes desktop computers, a bank of netbooks, and i-pads that are available to all classes.
We have a privately operated kindergarten within our school grounds which allows us to form close relationships and offer an extensive transition program. Our school has formed close relationships with the secondary schools in Traralgon and Yarram, and we work in a partnership to ensure a smooth transition from primary, to secondary school.
