Gormandale& District Primary School is a small country school located between Traralgon and Yarram.
Our school focuses on making your child’s primary schooling experience an incredibly positive one which is reflected in our school’s philosophy which is firmly based on the belief that every student has the ability to learn and that this best occurs in a flexible, happy and positive environment.
We encourage students to become active, independent learners who are able to participate in a co-operative classroom environment.
We encourage student to grow in self confidence and esteem and to take pride in everything they set out to achieve. A notable aspect of the school is the welcoming atmosphere, the open approachable nature of staff members and the positive attitude to student welfare.

The classroom structure for 2016 is:
Children break into groups according to their ability and not their grade level in the following areas: Reading, Writing, Spelling, Number, Measurement, Geometry and Statistics & Probability. We have run this group structure for the past two years with a huge amount of success.
Our spelling program Soundwaves has proven to be an outstanding success. After the introduction of this program several years ago we are now seeing huge results in our students. We are proud to have students represent us and be very competitive in Gippspell a spelling bee held in Gippsland.
In addition to the classroom programs we also have:
MARC (Mobile Area Resource Centre) Library.
The MARC Library visits each Monday. The MARC Van contains books the students can borrow; along with a dedicated library teacher who teaches an hour library session with each of the classes.
We are very fortunate to have a well-equipped Art room where each grade are able to express themselves. Each student attends a weekly art lesson.
Each student attends a weekly Music lesson. We are learning the Recorder, how to read music and a main focus is instruments.
Gormandale and District Primary School is a wonderful school, which we all love being a part of.
